A beautiful space to reflect, every day.
YourStory is a journal designed for calm reflection rather than productivity. There are no streaks to maintain, no chains to break, and no notifications nudging you to keep up. The brief was simple: build a space that feels quiet when you open it and stays out of your way when you don't.
Three tools sit underneath. Guided prompts take the pressure out of the blank page, a memories calendar turns the year into a visual map of your moods, and an annual Wrapped reads like a slow portrait of your growth instead of a leaderboard. Emotional patterns surface in the background, there if you want them, never pushed.
Privacy isn't a marketing line. Entries are encrypted on-device with libsodium before they ever touch the network, so even the team behind the app couldn't read a journal if they tried. That trust is what lets the rest of the design afford to be soft.
#01Guided prompts
A blank page kills journals. Every entry opens with a prompt instead, a single short question paired with the character so the screen never feels empty before you've written anything. Questions rotate daily and stay light on purpose: small windows into a mood, never a survey.
Voice and text live side by side. Tap the record button and the character listens with a calm waveform; type instead and the same surface flips into a writing canvas. The point is to make the lowest-friction path the right one, no matter how the day finds you.
#02Memories calendar
The memories calendar replaces the usual journal-list with a visual timeline. Every day you write becomes a coloured tile keyed to its mood, and a full month reads at a glance like a bar of music: calm stretches, brighter peaks, the months you went quiet.
Tapping a tile lifts the original entry into a sheet without disturbing the calendar above, so you can scrub backwards through months of reflection without ever losing your place. The whole interaction is intentionally tactile: dates feel like physical buttons, sheets settle with iOS-native spring physics, and nothing in the UI competes with the writing itself.
#03Annual Wrapped
At the end of each year, Wrapped folds twelve months of writing into a slow, watchable portrait of the moods that returned, the prompts that pulled the longest entries, the weeks where you wrote most, and the words you reached for most often.
The sequence is built to be re-watched once, not screenshotted and shared. There's no leaderboard against last year's self, no 'you wrote 37% more than your friends' shame metric. Just a calm summary that gives you a sense of the year without telling you what to feel about it.
#04Customization
The journal carries a small character, a soft, blocky face with a wardrobe of hats and accessories, that follows you as a quiet guide. It's not a streak, it's not a habit-tracker dressed up as a friend. It's just a companion you can dress however you want, whose only job is to make opening the app feel a little more like home.
Six base poses cover the emotional range the app actually supports: laughing, content, thoughtful, sleepy, proud, calm. Each one was illustrated end-to-end in the same blocky style as the app's iconography, then layered against accessories so users can build the version that feels most like them.
#05Website
The marketing site mirrors the product's voice: calm, slow, no pop-up asking you to subscribe before you've read the first sentence. Hero pulls a single screenshot, scrolling tiles walk through the feature set in the same order the app reveals them, and the download row at the bottom hands off to the App Store and Play Store without any further ceremony.
Same visual system as the app, same restrained palette, same blocky character peeking through the corners. The site isn't a separate marketing artefact, it's the zero-install preview of what downloading actually gets you.
